Main Scripture

Ephesians 6:2–3

“Honor your father and mother… so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

Devotional

Your family is one of the first places God calls you to live out your faith. It’s easy to talk about faith at church or with friends—but real faith shows up at home.

Today is about choosing to serve, love, and honor your family in practical ways. Not because you were asked. Not because you have to. But because you want to reflect Jesus.

Sometimes the greatest impact you can make isn’t on a stage or in a crowd—it’s in the quiet, unseen moments at home.

Action Steps

  • Do something kind without being asked
  • Help with chores or responsibilities
  • Look for ways to lighten someone’s load
  • Examples: babysit, do laundry, cook a meal, wash dishes, clean a bathroom, mow the lawn, wash a car, fix or build something
  • If there has been tension at home, confess where you’ve been wrong and ask forgiveness
  • Ask each family member if there is anything you can do to be a better son, daughter, or sibling

Social Challenge

Post something honoring your family. Let your words reflect gratitude.

Faith in Action

Two girls in a youth group chose to serve their family during a challenge like this. Their father was not a believer. But he noticed something different: their attitude, their kindness, and their willingness to serve. Over time, it changed him. He eventually came to church and gave his life to Christ. He said, “Watching my daughters made me realize God was real.”

Prayer

Lord, help me to show Your love first in my own home. Give me a servant’s heart and a humble spirit. Heal any broken relationships in my family, and use my life as a testimony of Your grace. Let my family see Jesus through the way I live. Amen.

Journal Prompt

  • What is one specific way I can serve each member of my family?
  • Is there anything I need to make right at home?
  • What would it look like for my home to experience God through me?
